Spring 2012
The Ball began some 16 years ago as an event for parents to get together to enjoy a social occasion. Over the years this has grown not only in size but reputation and now attracts guests from all over the UK and even in some cases travelling from Europe!
From its somewhat more modest beginnings, in a smaller marquee, buffet meal and plastic chairs; the Ball has grown to become an extremely upmarket event now enjoyed by parents and people who have no connection with the school.
During the early years, the committee used to plead with parents to help with the constant washing up of glasses during the evening to keep the bar functioning. They would then return the following morning with Marigolds to continue with the mountain of washing up!!! I have a clear memory of washing up in a field with the marquee being taken down around me!
The auction has always proved to be an entertaining part of the evening, especially when a certain male parent modelled the use of a Dyson vacuum cleaner which was purchased and then disappeared, last seen running down the road being chased by its new owner!!
Each year the committee manages to excel, providing different entertainment, mouth-watering food and a different theme. Although the committee members have changed over the years, (with the exception of a few), the standard of the event certainly hasn’t, each year the committee surpass themselves to organise such an enjoyable evening which we hope you will enjoy as much as we do.
The Brinkworth Ball has been successfully raising funds for Brinkworth Earl Danby's Primary School for the last 16 years. Each year we raise in the region of £10,000 for the school and a designated charity thanks to the generosity of parents, local businesses and the hard work of our Ball Committee.
The Brinkworth Ball was originally set up as social occasion for parents, but the financial benefit rapidly became apparent and it has grown to be a significant source of funding for BEDSA
